The house · Reefer-Galler & Co.

Five generations,
one cedar block.

Reefer-Galler & Co. began in 1869 as a millinery supply firm stocking the dry-goods stores of post-war St. Louis. Eastern red cedar shavings came on the books in 1873, sold by the pound to milliners storing winter felt.

By 1880 the cedar program was the larger half of the business. The sachet program began in 1907. The garment-bag line, our youngest, arrived in 1953, twenty years before Willert Home Products bought the company.

We have not changed the cedar source in seventy years. The lavender cultivar in the sachets has been the same since 1968. The cotton for the bags has come from the same Tennessee mill since 1989. We do not have a five-year plan. We have a five-generation pattern.
